Accounts:

The Department's Accounts Unit is based in Cavan.  It was relocated there under the Decentralisation Programme on a phased bases during 2007.  At present, the Department has temporary accommodation in Elm House, Earlsvale Road, Cavan, but will transfer to the Department's new headquarters on Farnham Road, Cavan, in 2010. 

Structure and functions of the Accounts Unit:

There are 13 people employed in the Department's Accounts Unit. They deal with staff salaries, travel and subsistence claims and general supplier and grant payments.  In addition to payments, the Unit prepares monthly and annual accounts and discharges the Department's statutory obligations in respect of the Prompt Payment of Accounts legislation, PAYE/PRSI, Relevant Contract Tax, Professional Services With-Holding Tax, VAT, Intrastat, and Third-Party Returns.

The Unit also has overall responsibility for the Department's debt and cash management policy and the maintenance of its Asset Register.
